Hunger Hill

Silk Rhenko is a young Russian woman who is sure she can take on the job as hired killer for her boss, Fyodor Umarov. It’s not as easy as she thinks. She makes rookie mistakes that will lead to more mistakes.

Enter Portland Police Detective Basil Keene. He’s been assigned the task of confirming that the unlikable butcher of Hunger Hill committed suicide. But, Keene thinks, not so fast—some inconsistencies with the theory point him in another direction. Keene’s new angle is sadly confirmed with the introduction of fresh evidence and the discovery of more bodies. The investigation takes on a different tone.

The bodies start piling up. Keene fights against time and the seemingly unstoppable murder spree. Dramatic plot twists and surprises lead to a spectacular ending. The cast of characters ranges from the sinister Rhenko to the charming Eileen Mack, an underage bartender, to oligarch Fyodor Umarov, the mastermind behind a despicable scheme of money laundering and human trafficking.
This is a well-crafted crime thriller with loads of action, police procedures, plot surprises and a dramatic conclusion.

Words of Praise

One of the strongest points of the book was how all the characters are linked, but it’s not forced.
